Not as bad as the scathing reviews in France claim. Requiem pour une Tueuse comes out weak, though, as the film certainly had potential. The opening scene in the church is completely unbelievable with the cat allergy, and at times the characters made strange choices that didn't benefit the film. The gardener being shot by Cornillac and the sudden romance between the murderess and her victim are two examples.

The Machiavellian story is simply that of a man who has inherited a Scotch whisky distillery and must be murdered because he's disrupting the investment plans of a wealthy oil magnate. But nothing goes as planned. There are simply too many players on the scene. On the one hand, there's Lucrèce, then someone who has to keep an eye on her and intervene if things go wrong. Finally, there's a former soldier (Cornillac) who has to thwart the attack. It's worth watching, but not a film that will shine on these actors' resumes.

Beautifully filmed – lovely shots of the castle and the surrounding nature, for example. But that's not why you watch a film like this.

The story is confusing and difficult to follow. This is mainly because it's made far too complicated—and as a result, it's quite flawed in some details. It's a shame—besides that, the only thing that really irritates me is Melanie Laurent's ridiculous haircut. She's being treated so badly here.

Too bad. Could have been very good.

Karyo excels with his performance in this inventively crafted thriller. The restrained acting slows the film down too much, which is a shame. Yet, considering the perpetrators' buildup, the film is cleverly constructed. The finale is obvious, yet a beautiful ending. Just enough, thanks in part to the music.
