Not a bad movie. In terms of predictability, unfortunately, it is clear from the start who will remain. The structure is fairly standard: in the beginning the characters of the mountaineers are explained including the mutual friction. In addition, very nice pictures of the area; Unfortunately I have absolutely nothing to do with mountaineering. From the moment the girl is found, some exciting elements come in, but the whole thing also becomes a lot more improbable, especially when the village is reached. The cast was good, I really liked little Anna. Looking at the entertainment value for me, I still give a slightly higher score than the average.

During an expedition, five mountaineer friends rescue a young girl [Holly Boyd] from an underground cellar. Alison [Melissa George] and Rob [Alec Newman] decide to rappel down Devil's Drop to Annan Moor to alert the police. When Rob makes a death trap and Alison luckily survives a rock fall, Alison realizes she's being targeted by deadly criminals. Thus begins a race against time: first to warn her three who stayed behind, then to leave the mountain before the girl's captors find them. An unsurprising scenario, but this thriller benefits from breathtaking photography in the opening scenes and from the rock solid acting Sean Harris as the ruthless Mr Kidd.

Original and unusual thriller film. I especially liked the first half, where the mysterious aspect was very present. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the film kind of faltered in the second half. Also, some choices & situations were not always logical, but of course it remains a film. Big pluses for the beautiful locations that passed by. Scotland remains a country with an amazing nature. I was also positively surprised by the violence and nudity (breasts and penis) that came along with a rating of +12 here on MM All in all, the film looked great.

4/5
