Zhao is one of the many artists who paint millions of copies of Western masterpieces every year in the Chinese village of Dafen. While Van Gogh only managed to sell one painting to the market in his entire life, Zhao sells thousands of his replicas. When the young painter in Amsterdam comes face to face with the real sunflowers, Van Gogh becomes much more than just a source of income for him: his art and his life motivate the young painter to pursue his own dreams. China's Van Goghs is a journey that symbolizes the Chinese dream of the 21st century: from 'Made in China' to 'Created in China'.
