"From the dark side of the moon, they came for him..."
John Lefsburg, a small-town detective, has lost his will to live. He is tasked with transporting homeless man Simon Applewhite to a psychiatric ward in the nearby town of Madison. Simon claims that aliens want to invade Earth via the moon. His mission is to kill Frank Coen, whom Simon believes is planning an invasion to destroy the human race. Due to a series of accidents, John and Simon's lives become inextricably linked and they will have to help each other.
