In 1930s Texas, teacher Novalyne Price meets a handsome, eccentric and interesting young man, Robert Howard. He is a successful writer of the pulp books about Conan the Barbarian. She is a source of inspiration for him. Their friendship gradually develops into a kind of relationship.
