Baxter! plot

"If you believe in love, then you'll love Baxter!"

Roger Baxter (Scott Jacoby) is a boy with an obvious speech impediment. He calls himself Baxter, his last name, because he can't pronounce his first name, Roger. His disability worsens when his parents decide to get a divorce. Speech therapist Roberta (Patricia Neal) learns that Roger's problems run deeper than his inability to speak normally.

Reasonable film about a teenage boy with a speech impediment who moves with his divorced mother. This coming-of-age film has a somewhat fragmentary structure and is not exactly tone-free. The main character is well portrayed and Scott Jacoby's youthful enthusiasm contributes to this. Some good scenes, but 3.5 stars would be just too much.
