My second from this Thai director and again not convinced. I can't really say much about it. The film is drawn out and languid. Apart from the premise of reincarnation and ghosts, there is little to make of it. The table scene was in this case the best scene of the film, especially when the woman appears. She doesn't just walk up, but slowly becomes visible, to the dismay of the other people around the table.
That monkey ghost - or whatever they call it in the movie - could have functioned perfectly in The Wizard of Oz as far as I'm concerned. Not really successful actually.

However, it seemed to me a film with potential and an interesting subject. The film poster is also quite successful. Perhaps partly due to a lack of local cultural insights, not everything is equally comprehensible. But all in all, quite mediocre. Very close 3.0*.

Boonmee [Thanapat Saisaymar] has an incurable kidney disease and is spending his last days with his family, but not everything is as it seems. Stunningly photographed and full of intriguing sequences, but the basic story is a bit confusing, to say the least. Even after watching it three times, I couldn't make much sense of it. But that could just be me.

Strange, dreamy Thai film about reincarnation and life after death. Or something like that. It's all very vague and unstable, as well as slow and static. For example, the first camera movement only presents itself after 45 minutes. Here and there a few dryly comic moments, but overall I couldn't do much with it.
