"Life is Colour. Love is Colour."
An old bickering couple goes to the river to wash his carpet (gabbeh), which depicts two lovers on horseback. Suddenly from this pattern the girl Gabbeh comes to life. She bitterly tells the story of her love that kept having to be postponed at the hands of her father. Finally she dares to escape to her beloved, but her father goes after her. Upon his return, he lies to his other daughters to prevent them from following their sister's example.
