An intense subject/story that I think everyone knows. The role that Kate Hudson fulfills; great class! The character is somewhat "free/light-hearted" with her life and, after hearing of her incurable illness, happily continues this as best he can. The heaviness and the dramatic nature of the illness is intense enough in itself, but with the "laugh" with which the story is presented, it is not only sentimental but also fun to watch. (The other characters are also well filled in, contain the necessary (certainly not exaggerated) humor / drama / sentiment; and also "recognizable" characters.

If I have to wipe some tears away from it, which rarely happens, it has in its way managed to strike a very sensitive chord with me! One of the best of its kind. 4*

A heavy subject in combination with humor. The film 50/50 (2011) already showed that this is possible.

In this film directed by Nicole Kassell, romance also plays an important role. I found Kate Hudson convincing enough. The film paints a picture of the reality one is confronted with after being diagnosed with cancer. Especially how to learn to move on. A pretty intense subject, but as far as I'm concerned sufficiently successful in its design.

When quirky, high-spirited Marley [Kate Hudson] discovers she has cancer, she comes face to face with God [Whoopi Golberg], who reports that Marley is dying and that she is getting three wishes. Marley comes up with two but keeps the third to herself for a while. Since her attending physician is played by Gael García Bernal, her third wish is not so hard to guess. Syrupy, formulaic romantic comedy does its best to move, but only Hudson's charisma prevents it from falling into the 'not to peep at' category.
