R plot

Rune is a young Dane who has been convicted of a serious crime and is sent to an old maximum-security prison. He is determined to be as inconspicuous as possible and to stay out of the fight for power, but from the first day it becomes clear that that is not an option. There is no escape from the brutal prison culture, with its strict pecking order, violent codes of honor and secretive contracts. Thanks to his dexterity, he nevertheless manages to acquire a privileged position.

Fine raw prison drama, excellently played and appropriately soberly portrayed. The plot contains many familiar genre elements, but there are enough interesting details (and some surprising developments) to keep the whole thing fresh and energized. Another strong film from Denmark in any case, convincing on all fronts. Good movies seem to be made there on an assembly line in recent years...

I saw this one so I gave it a try. I didn't think it was a bad movie. Despite the fact that the film is largely set in prison, there was plenty to do to keep you interested, partly due to the excellent acting.

The last half hour was surprising and I wasn't really expecting. Nevertheless, I thought it was worth watching.

I didn't really have any expectations for this movie, but I really liked it. Worth seeing.

A prison film that I expected more from. The film is very average and not very innovative. Drama makes way for crime. Little nuanced film in which the necessary clichés also come to the surface.

Couldn't really untangle the plot with all that smuggling stuff. Also the internal rivalry between the various prison gangs was of little interest to me. Little connection also possible with the main character and that was not only because she was not a sweetheart herself.

The balance was a bit off in the film. Sometimes it all went a bit too coincidental. Great acting, especially from Asbaek. But the others did well too. R is a raw hard prison film, but it could have been that little bit more.
