1898, the Philippines. During the Spanish-American War, the commander of a Spanish detachment in Baler realizes that the indigenous people of his district are planning an uprising. He orders his troops to entrench themselves in the village church. During the siege, which lasts almost a year, there are several serious incidents that show the tenacity and heroism of the 50 Spaniards against the strength of the domestic Tagalogs.
