During a date, operator Norah Larkin is drunk by artist Harry Prebble, after which he wants to sleep with her. In self-defense, Norah knocks him unconscious, but when she wakes up the next morning, she learns that Prebble has been murdered. She herself cannot remember anything from the previous evening.
