Arthur Bishop (Jason Statham) is the best elite killer there is. He carries out his assignments with the utmost precision, without leaving any traces. When his teacher and friend Harry (Donald Sutherland) is murdered, he decides to change his life. His mission is complicated when Harry's son Steve (Ben Foster) approaches him with a request to learn the ropes.

Very solid Statham.
It's for these kinds of movies that I actually try a Statham movie every now and then. Simple in design, but presented fairly smoothly and stylishly. Statham is a perfect ice frog, there's not much more to it than the action and it doesn't last longer than necessary.
I'm not a big West fan, but I liked this movie. Have a soft spot for main characters who plan everything down to the last detail and are above the nefarious countermoves of the opponent. Statham is one of those, so the ending is absolutely no surprise, but what does it matter with these kinds of films.
Action is nicely portrayed, the momentum is good and visually it is familiar territory but quite well executed. The only thing the film lacks are moments that really stick or stand out. It's a film that will quickly sink in, but it won't get boring while watching. So nice filler.

Nice action film with action hero Jason Statham who can look cool again, shoot and kick bad guys. That's how I like to see it and there are some nice action scenes in the film. Unfortunately, the focus is too much on the story so that there is actually too little speed and action scenes.
And that is of course not possible in these kinds of films. The story is wafer thin and so are the characters, so why pay so much attention to it? Statham's training Foster to be a hit man is nice on paper, but the actors lack chemistry and Foster is mostly an annoying bitch here. The ending is nice and hard and luckily the sentimental solution is not chosen. That's how I like it.
