Thought it was a captivating film by Ozon. After only five minutes, the film managed to take me into the emotional world of Mousse. What follows is a quiet, pleasant film about grieving, fleeing from reality, and trying to pick up the thread of life again. Who said all movies about grief were depressing? Connoisseurs of Ozon will undoubtedly recognize other motives in his film, such as the homosexual relationship, people's dealings with the harder sides of life. But it is mainly Isabelle Carré, who was actually pregnant during the shooting, who is the star of a film that ends with an unexpected twist.

A decent Ozone, my 17th I think, and one that I place somewhere halfway through his oeuvre. Because you expect it less, quite a fierce opening scene of two addicted junkies, one of whom dies very quickly. What follows is mourning and reflection, far away from the metropolis of Paris.

I had expected that after the proposal from the in-laws the pressure on her would be a lot more intrusive, but, it wasn't. The film remains serene and subdued. That's just the pitfall with an ozone. In itself he does little wrong. He plays it safe. The film lacks sharpness and panache. Often that is accompanied by good cinematography and excellent acting, this time by Carré, but I missed that little bit extra.

Inconspicuous indeed. One that I will unfortunately soon forget due to its colorlessness.
