Sequels... some people already get a haze before their eyes when there is a 2 behind something. Carrie isn't sacred to me, but it is a revered classic from Da Palma, stylishly matching bloodshed with a euphoric sense of justice. The same trick is repeated here, but in the visual straitjacket of its own time. Feels like all other slasher(ish) titles from that era (I Know, Urban Legend...). Surprisingly it is nowhere, but it remains a great concept that also works in the late 90s.

Are there any sequels to Stephen King movies that aren't crap?

A really pointless sequel, It's about 30 years after the original and then Carrie's dad turns out to have another daughter by another woman, who's still so young she's still in high school??
Don't know how old that dad is, but a bit vague.. Then you have the talented Mena Suvari (American Beauty/American Pie) in your film and then you let her die after being on the screen for 5 minutes?
The only interesting scenes are the scenes from part 1 that make you remember how exciting the original was and make you wish you were watching it now instead of this one. The only plus is Irving replaying the character Sue so we know what happened to her after part 1, but then again that wasn't really something I wondered about after the end of part 1.. This movie isn't quite as bad as the 2002 TV remake of Carrie or the almost frame by frame remake from 2013 with Chloë Grace Moretz.... In my opinion they should have just left it with the original or King himself made a sequel have it written

Entertaining.

I'm having a hard time answering for myself whether this sequel to the 1976 classic is better or less good. I don't like both films much, but both for different reasons. This sequel has a completely different tone, which makes it difficult to place both films in the same universe.

We follow a number of characters who are all annoying in their own way. One does it by yelling, the other by hitting and the next demanding attention by shaving his head. Again the formula is followed to make an intolerable appearance of any character who is not Bergl or London. And that succeeds well.

The film looks good for quite some time, but it doesn't really add anything to the previous part. It's all too messy and easily written for that, probably with the aim of quickly refilling the pennies. The acting is nothing to write home about either, but I had long since given up that hope with this film.

It's especially the finale that kicks off quite nicely with clunky effects, striking graphic murders and a generally pleasant tone of horror. The film does work towards it for a long time, but that was also the case in the previous part. The difference this time is that it is all communicated less subtly forward, but that is to be expected from a 90s film.

Definitely not a high-flyer, but very entertaining nonsense. The reason why this doesn't get enough is because of the very last scene, which I thought connected pretty badly with the rest of the film. It's bad, but entertainingly bad, and not many movies of this calibre can duplicate the sequel. Suitable for a simple evening in a drunken mood.
