De Langste Reis plot

Television film about the relationship between a kidnapper and his victim. Gerard Mertens does not fit the stereotypical image of the ruthless criminal in anything. He has no criminal record, is an academic and comes across as a somewhat dorky house man. Behind that mask of everydayness, however, hides an aggrieved man. Gerard's career is shattered by the betrayal of a business partner and he has lost all faith in the world. Out of hatred for those who have wronged him, he one day kidnaps his 'adversary', the wealthy and successful captain of industry Willem-Jan Schuyt. The roles in everyday life are reversed. The further the day goes on, the clearer it becomes to both men that only one of them will survive the power struggle.
