One More Time with Feeling plot

What was to become an ordinary making of Nick Cave's new album inadvertently became a mourning document for his son, Arthur. His 15-year-old son was killed in an accident. The film shows the singer at his most vulnerable, talking openly about his songs and of course his loss, completely intertwined with the creative process of making Skeleton Tree.

Good documentary about the creation of Nick Cave's last album. The tragic accident is not discussed until late in the documentary, but is constantly palpable. Beautifully shot in black and white, which fits well with the moody music and tone of the documentary. Of course only interesting if you are familiar with Nick Cave's work.

Nick Cave: one more time with feeling is a fragile and at the same time true testament of an artist who tries to find his way in the dark .

Gripping, crushing, in and in personal and without embarrassment, Cave finds his way to true art and expression through voice and music interspersed with his own commentary. I'll put it on the top shelf.

The first album Nick Cave made after his 15-year-old son Arthur died under the influence of LSD from a rock fall was "Skeleton Tree", one of the most critically acclaimed albums of his extensive discography. For this Cave fell back on minimalist arrangements with unique soundscapes and loaded, poetic lyrics. So heavy handed and Dominik reinforces that feeling by filming the musical recordings in sober black and white, including a camera revolving in circles around Cave and strobe effects. Attempts to discuss his son's death with Cave become bogged down in vague speculations that will intrigue some, repulse others. Typically a documentary for which you have to be in the right mood. Or a fan of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
