Four Faces West plot
"THE STRANGEST DESPARDO THE WEST HAS EVER KNOWN!"
Cowboy Ross McEwen arrives in town and pays a visit to the bank. He asks the banker to lend him $2,000. When the banker asks for collateral, he sees the barrel of McEwen's revolver. The banker hands the money to McEwen and McEwen writes a IOU and signs it with "Jefferson Davis". McEwen drives out of town and continues by train. On the train, he is cared for by a nurse because he was bitten by a rattlesnake. A vigilante searches the train, but McEwen manages to escape attention. Meanwhile, Sheriff Pat Garrett has also set out to track down the bank robber.

Excellent western and indeed in beautifully shot black and white images and a good cast, but the film gets just under 3.5* from me precisely because of that humor, this film also has a truly beautiful soundtrack that I really enjoyed. What I really enjoyed seeing TV legend William Conrad from the Cannon series again, the younger ones may remember him from Jake and the Fatman.

I would have liked to see the landscapes of the last half hour in color.
Nice western with hardly any action, but a nice pace and nice discoveries.
McCrea is a stable factor within the western and this film has a nice detail; McCrea and co-star Frances Dee were a couple during the film and throughout their lives and remained so until McCrea's death in 1990.
