films that were made without cartoon things when there were still real Romans were simple

a beautiful decoration as a background, a good story with a bunch of good actors and actress, an image that is on par with modern films and that was 1953. I'm not saying that they haven't made good films now, but that's what it was for that time. very handsome. Compared to now, the films are now mostly shot and made with a computer, the figures in the film are sometimes often cartoon figures and you just have to take the rest. but these are just films that interest few people, especially at a young age. but if you like good actors and a good film and you like films like Ben Hur or Spartacus and the like and you are not afraid of Christian things that appear in many films and also in this one, then you are in the right place. and now I'm going to watch it again tonight on my new large screen 4k TV and maybe later buy it again but on Blu-ray greetings have a nice evening

Good film in which a centurion has problems with himself after he crucifies the messiah. You get what you expect with this large-scale Hollywood Bible adaptation. Although it doesn't really excel in anything, it remains entertaining. Beautiful decoration and good acting. Furthermore, this film is mainly known as the first Cinemascope.

I liked this movie. The nicer stories about Jesus are often those that are shown from the perspective of the outsider, here the Roman. The film follows Marcellus, a tribune and military officer who is sent to Palestine by Caligula along with his slave Demetrius. His task: accompany Jesus to the cross. Shortly afterwards he becomes mentally ill: his conscience gnaws at him, believing that he has done something immensely wrong by letting Jesus die. Eventually he converted and became a follower of the apostle Peter.

In the film, Christ's robe becomes the first relic to circulate. For Marcellus this symbolizes the weight of his sin, then it becomes a physical reminder of the existence of the Messiah. Make no mistake, this is not a "sword and sandals" film, but more of a Bible drama with little action that takes place in the shadow of the new faith with the earliest Christian persecutions in the background.
