'Taking Woodstock' takes you back to how the world famous Woodstock festival began. Based on Elliot Tiber's diary, at a time when anything seemed possible. Elliot works as an interior designer in Greenwich Village, but must return to El Monaco to save the family business, which is destroyed by his gullible parents. To keep the motel from being taken over by the bank, Elliot must come up with a genius plan. When he learns that an already-scheduled music festival is not getting permission from the neighborhood village of Wallkill, Elliot offers producer Michael Lang an alternative, a large plot of land and the family motel. With the help of his friends and fellow villagers, they await half a million people on their way to the three-day festival of peace and music. In this way Elliot ends up in an experience that changes his own and many other lives forever.

Refreshing
Finally a feel-good film that isn't bombarded with cliché humor or a forced sugary sweet storyline. Everything about this movie is fine. The plot line is good and there are many nice supporting characters. Every now and then Ang Lee does drop a stitch with some lame humor, for example die hash brownies. But the end result is entertaining and entertaining. One of the few light-hearted movies that I can watch with my girlfriend and enjoy it too!

How the Festival came about at that location is discussed in detail and is not discussed too deeply. Fortunately, because then it became too documentary-like.

Not my world.
I have nothing to do with Woodstock, always avoided that documentary and I know it mainly by name. I think it once came up in a Dylan documentary, but it has already sunk very deeply.
The music is certainly not mine, but the whole festival happening and the floating hippie thing is not for me either. I would at least tune my time travel machine slightly differently than most people here.
It's fortunate that Lee actually focuses on the fringe of the festival, especially the first hour anyway. Funny to see what happens to such a small farming village when suddenly 500,000 people are on the road for a festival. It's not a real comedy, but the light-hearted atmosphere works for the first hour.
After that, the focus is forced to lie more on the hippies and the mud. And on the "blooming" of the main character, which apparently has to happen via some trip scene. I really can't get mad about it, especially not because it's all very well-behaved and bland. The fact that there are no real performances (even the soundtrack is not exactly busy with mashing up classic hits) seems logical to me, I'm afraid it would be just a bit too much dressing up.
Mno, Woodstock is nicely in the past and it may slowly rust away as far as I'm concerned. I liked the beginning of this movie, the last hour is boring and drizzly. Ang Lee is also not really my director I have the impression.
