Captain Steve Jarvis and Lieutenant Joe Rossi are officers on a tanker when their ship is sunk by a German submarine. After some time, they are put in charge of a freighter that has to sail from Halifax to Murmansk. They are part of a large international convoy that brings goods to Europe. If the convoy is attacked by German submarines, they are separated from the convoy. Under their own power, they continue their journey chased by a German submarine, the beginning of a cat and mouse game in which the smartest will survive.
