Puisque Nous Sommes Nés plot
Two penniless boys in Brazil are followed: Cocada, 13, who sleeps in an old truck after the murder of his father, and 14-year-old Nego, who lives in a slum with his (half) siblings. They hang out at a large gas station on a main road and earn some extra money with odd jobs. They rustle and take advantage of the goodness or negligence of the passers-by. Both have dreams of a world elsewhere that, thanks to a good-hearted truck driver and a religious fanatic, might just come true. The two boys philosophize about their future at the gas station, which for both of them is the symbol for 'elsewhere'.
