Happy End plot
After Leedvermaak and Qui Vive, the old Simon is on the brink of death and a new generation comes to the fore of the troubled Jewish family who cannot banish the traces of the Second World War from their mutual relationships. The family has come together because ancestor Simon is seriously ill. He has undergone eye surgery which has caused serious complications. His deceased wife Ada - invisible to the others - is present when she is remembered. Simon thinks about her almost constantly, both in reality and in his 'daymares'.
