Talk About a Stranger plot
When his dog dies, most likely of poisoning, Bud, the 12-year-old son of Robert Fontaine and owner of a small orchid farm in California, immediately suspects an unfriendly, mysterious stranger. This stranger recently had an argument with his father. Bud launches a smear campaign and other townspeople even begin to believe the stranger is a wanted murderer. Unfounded assumptions and wild speculation get the stranger in big trouble.
