La Vie de Bohème plot
Three penniless artists are friends in modern Paris. Rodolfo is an Albanian painter without a visa, Marcel writes plays and Schaunard is a modern composer. Despite not making a dime, they refuse to make their art more accessible to a wider audience. Rodolfo falls in love with barmaid Mimi, but then he is expelled from the country. Six months later, he is back in Paris illegally, and Mimi leaves her new boyfriend to be with Rodolfo again. Conflicts arise, especially about the lack of money, and that does not benefit the relationships of the three artists.

A film about three unsung artists. One a painter who still has some work to do with his portraits, the other a failed author and then a composer. It seems to take place between the Paris of Van Gogh and Gaugain. And the bar lady, here with Mimi, should not be missed.
Knowing the story, you know that poverty and rejection lurk around the corner. Every day we struggle and we have to wait for that one opportunity. Quite a roguish trio with Pellonpää in the lead as an Albanian who suddenly loses his residence. It's also nice to see how their friendships are forged and strengthened. Sad, but also funny at times, as befits Kaurismäki.
Very fun to follow. You feel sorry for these bastards who are certainly not the worst.
