Julie & Julia is a sluggish film with two storylines that are both meaningless in themselves, but intertwined also do not suddenly result in a brilliant film. Nor does it ever come to a truly (expected) satisfying ending. Meryl Streep convinces as Julia Child, but is constantly reminiscent of Hyacinth Bucket from "Keeping Up Appearances" which of course cannot be the intention.

The part of Julie's husband seemed to be written for Paul Rudd, the guy reminded me a lot of him too.

Niemendalletje, 2.5 stars
