On the basis of Joris Ivens' experiences in China, René Seegers paints a picture of the way in which the Chinese leaders managed to use artists, journalists and film-makers for their cause during the Cultural Revolution. A documentary about friendship, loyalty and integrity, but also about the Chinese distrust of foreigners, a topic that is still topical today.
