Hard to rate this movie. The first half was very difficult for me to get through. The storylines and emotions are also quite clichéd and stylistically I wouldn't call Mammoth a high-flyer. The images are much too slick and the (sometimes beautiful) songs are thrown in without much feeling.

But after a while Moodysson (still a beautiful name) got a hold of me. Ultimately, the theme is quite interesting and Mammoth remains nicely subdued. I also thought the ending was very successful.

Sometimes quite boring and stereotypical, but all in all still quite successful. 3*

Mammoth is a movie that takes some time to get going. The plot unfolds like a mosaic film and it is always a matter of waiting to see how the puzzle pieces fit together. It is not a film where the characters of the different pieces meet, but the parts are intertwined.

The situation in New York actually appealed to me the most. A highly educated family where careers are prioritized above the child's upbringing. OK, you may have an au pair for something, but I still find these very awkward situations. Despite all the wealth and luxury, I personally find the situation anything but enviable. Michelle Williams takes the film to the next level and it was her difficult straddle that impressed me the most.

The situation is disrupted when the nanny urgently has to return to the Philippines. Don't think it's solved that great. That she leaves in a hurry, so far, but you do call the parents yourself and don't leave this to eight-year-old Jackie. As if you just got a and flight to Manila within the hour ... Leo's escapades could rather be stolen from me, but the events in the Philippines [/ spoiler] were poignant.

Interesting but ultimately a bit too casual drama, this mosaic of lives going through a crisis. Good acting by the entire cast and subtly constructed and elaborated by director Moodysson, but in the end the storylines don't result in anything remarkable. The film is entertaining and at times thought-provoking.
