John, a university professor, is confronted by a female student, Carol, who has failed an assignment. The two spend a lot of time together and talk about all kinds of things. When Carol files a complaint with the university board, John's promotion and job are in jeopardy. This forces John to make the choice how to deal with the situation and shuts himself off from the outside world for 2 days. What he doesn't know is that Carol has expanded the charges.
