Don't you "In a minute, Momma" me! Get off your fat little ass or I'll break it for you! I want two soft boiled eggs, white toast, and some of that grape jelly god damn it! And don't burn the toast!

The idea is quite nice, to turn the concept of Strangers on a Train into a comedy, but the execution isn't particularly funny.

Billy Crystal is not doing too bad and occasionally provides some fun moments. Opponent Danny DeVito is a lot less active and his attempts at humor are often bland and not fun. And so it is with the rest of the film. Most humor is bland and not as fun and sharp as hoped. The mother is of course a role in itself and her rude statements, fortunately still occasionally provide a smile. She is also rare ugly and that it is a horror to live in the same house with her, she plays very convincingly.

All in all, quite disappointing. The mother steals the show, but otherwise I constantly had the idea that there was much more to get out of it. The number of real laughs is easy to count on one hand.

2.0*

Not a high-flyer this comedy, but it does have its comedic moments. Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal are nice, but the real star in this film is Anne Ramsey as the annoying Momma that made me laugh the most. Her looks and terrible voice were actually quite funny. She passed away a year after the release of this film. The story is well liked and the same goes for the execution including the nice ending.

This was the 2nd movie today with DeVito, first we have "Ruthless People"" from 1986 and then this one after it. To be honest you better start with this one because then you have a build up to a better movie. But this one is also quite digestible and regularly, especially later in the film, you can laugh at the situations.Mom (Anne Ramsey) in particular is the type we had the most fun with. Like she occasionally rants at her son , unbelievable A 7 in rating.
