Rupert, the editor-in-chief of a newspaper, finds his mistress murdered and to avoid being suspected he asks the journalist Barney Morgan for help. The latter suspects Gérard, the victim's husband, and arranges for him to be arrested. But Marianne, his lawyer, proves his innocence and Barney has to restart his investigation...
