In the early 1900s, half-breed Indian Yaqui Joe Herrera robs a bank in Phoenix, Arizona, then flees across the border to the Mexican town of Nogales. There, General Verdugo, a local governor, aided by German advisor Lieutenant Franz Von Klemme, wages a war against the Yaqui Indians to destroy them. Verdugo captures Yaqui Joe and orders that he be shot. But Arizona deputy sheriff Lyedecker, who was assigned to arrest Yaqui Joe for trial in the United States, intervenes and is himself arrested. However, the two men manage to escape to the hills where the attractive Indian revolutionary Sarita joins them.
