don't quite get the big deal.

It's not intense enough to shock a bit of a die-hard horror fan,

Come on, we are used to something more intense by now.

There are a few nice but very weird scenes in it.

This way of zombie interpretation is worth mentioning.

The gas station scene was very funny.

But it's too slow, and an unnecessarily long playing time.

The last shot,, is one that does fit in this unaccustomed film.

And the whole semi indie "vibe that should make it rise above average didn't work for me anyway.

But don't let that stop you, ,,as a whole it is remarkable enough to have seen.

just not big enough here.

2.5*

Horror is there as a genre designation. You can safely add the term comedy to that. Bad humor, sick humor. The movie is full of it. Well-fitting humor that fits seamlessly with the original and catchy horror side of the film.

The film has a thoughtful structure. The tension creeps in slowly. The main location is perfect for this. Always nice to see such a large empty sanatorium with discarded objects and ominous noises in the long corridors and in the dark cellars. Wonderful location. dark. Atmospheric.

The horror then. Nothing wrong with it. The creature that stirs up the feeling of fear does so with gusto. Dirty, repulsive and violent enough. The gore is certainly not lacking in this context. The bloody work happens to you quickly and violently. Surprising and with humor.

Humor that becomes more decisive in the course of time and thus puts an end to serious expectations that you as a viewer may still have had. The whole situation, the actions and the characters are so over the top that everything related to the film (and the horror) can be seen as a big humorous happening.

In that light-hearted state of mind, it looks nice. A more serious approach would increase the amount of anxiety and shameful horror. Under the guise of lightheartedness, those feelings can stay away. The humor legitimizes unscrupulous enjoyment. Yummy.

The few attempts to bring in drama are not for me. It is about the usual adolescent problems that you find in an average high school comedy or drama. Love affairs, bullies, misfits and more of that. Old and uninteresting cake that, unlike the horror part, is not innovative and which actually quite chewed up and annoyingly slows down the film.

Take a break during these scenes. The humor and horror are fun enough for it.

Entertaining "horror" movie / original concept ! / 3½ *

More serious in tone, the film would certainly have been sicker/more violent (and probably better).
Now it's about "some kind of zombie creation, presumably a leftover experiment from the former clinic (and forgot-to-clean up…)" or something. So much for moral justification
Because such a zombie chick as a sex slave is no problem

The nude is 'teasing', but not satisfying…..
(You can't really expect a bikini line, tied up and left behind)
