The Dark Tower plot

"There are other worlds than these"

Roland Deschain's world is falling apart. It was once marked by far-reaching magic and technology, but both seem to be mere relics of the past. To save the world, he is on a quest for the Dark Tower, a connecting point of all universes. He must find the Dark Tower before the villainous Man in Black does and destroys the tower. This would mean the end of humanity.

Bah!! What a mess this movie is. A sloppy and hastily put together work that does not do justice to the stories on which it is based.

Here and there some elements have been taken from the books, which are then smashed into a one and a half hour film. Add to that a vulgar story in which a tower is central and you have an uninspired fantasy work. A movie that shouldn't impress even those who don't know the books. There is already so much better released in this area.

Moderate to poor acting by the entire cast and yes, also from Elba and McConaughey (usually good) who apparently don't know what to do with the mediocre script.

If Stephen King approves or approves this, then apparently he has become several million dollars richer again, by proclaiming his "enthusiastic opinion and reaction" in a promotional video.

It's also just such a shame. There is such cool source material to do so much more with The Dark Tower universe. Genuinely complete moron that this has been given the green light. People who know the books feel cheated with this crap and those who don't know it won't be able to make much of this movie.

Soon forget!!

As a big fan of S.King and super fan of the Dark Tower books, I was initially against the film. Trying to squeeze a book series of 8 into 1 feature film is equivalent to trying to summarize the Lord of the Rings trilogy in 1 cartoon. Then the fact that they had cast Idris Elba as Roland disgusted me because the books clearly describe a white character. It was doomed to fail from the start, but I went to see HOW disastrous it would be. Other than well-known names of people and places, it doesn't even remotely resemble the world and the story I enjoyed so much. I couldn't take Mathieu seriously myself. In one word a mockery that may be a nice evening filling for those who are NOT connoisseurs of the books, but I was mainly annoyed. How could S.King ever give his name to this. Even a TV series would have to last 20 seasons to even remotely approach the world of Roland.

"He who tries to make 1 movie about the dark tower, has forgotten the face of his father!"

I have all the Stephen King books at home and of those books the books from The Dark Tower series are my absolute favorites. What is made of it in this film is a great shame!

A completely rushed story (how can you put 8 books, including some really thick ones) into a 90-minute movie? Apparently this is possible by omitting 95% of the story and also not including 3 key characters: Eddie, Suzannah and Blaine at all.

There is absolutely no character development at all, while for me that is precisely the strength of Stephen King's stories.

The ending is completely laughable (or more anger-provoking) and I thought the special effects throughout the film were crap.

Leave this disgraceful bag behind!!
