Noces plot
Zahira is an eighteen-year-old Pakistani girl with jet black eyes. She is looking for a solution to keep her unborn child. Her brother and confidant Amir promises to help her. However, Zahira and Amir's parents have other plans for the young girl.

Not the first film about the contradictions between the views of a young woman's marriage and the traditions of her parents' country of origin, and even now this "Noces" is an emotionally charged film that will certainly not leave you unmoved and has a shocking ending that isn't really good for anyone
Neat performances in which, in addition to the main character, the act of the young girlfriend Aurora Morion stood out.
Olivier Gourmet also enters after a while and the scene where he tries to violate the father is clever and essential.

Interesting Belgian film about an immigrant teenage daughter who is pregnant on the one hand and is in danger of being married off on the other. Both plots are interesting, but I found them just too full to include in one film. It would have been better if one of these themes had been worked out in more detail. Now you are going from one extreme to the other regarding the attitude of the family.
On the one hand, surprisingly understanding - taking into account the social pressure within one's own religion and culture. But on the other hand quite rigid which I can quite understand regardless of the fact that I have a different opinion from my Western thinking.
The film itself is emotionally charged and the protagonist finds herself between hammer and anvil. Both cultures she has to deal with cause a moral discomfort. This shows up quite well. It's also nice that extreme religious views are omitted. Fine role also by another Walloon monument Olivier Gourmet. He provides the necessary nuance and balance.
Nice ending too. I didn't see it coming, at least not in that way. Fine art house from Belgian soil. Captivating story with a moral compass. As far as I'm concerned, it's in the vein of a Dardenne, but with a religious instead of a socially disadvantaged theme.
