Anubis: Het Pad der 7 Zonden plot

The residents of Het Huis Anubis go on a school trip. However, their trip is brutally interrupted by something inexplicable. They end up in a ghost town where they come across an old legend. Who is Count 'Rohan', the earless count? And what does the gateway to the path of the seven sins mean? When Fabian investigates at night, he gets a strange feeling. His sweet Nienke is not at the agreed place and Appie and Jeroen are also behaving strangely. And where have Victor and Van Swieten suddenly gone? Have the residents become involved in a premeditated game or is there more to it? Is the love between Fabian and Nienke strong enough? Can anyone overcome their sin and continue to the bitter end?

When I was looking for a movie this afternoon, I 'just' chose Anubis: The Path of 7 Sins.

I remember watching the series for a while but at some point I thought it got too boring and stopped. I don't need to know anything about the new cast, etc. The film itself will particularly appeal to fans of the series and the really younger viewers. It doesn't really get boring, but the film threatens to become a bit on the long side. The decors all look nice too (not very special or anything). Acting varied a lot between the actors. I did appreciate one (such as Lucien van Geffen and Loek Beernink) but there were also plenty that I didn't like (many like him the best and I found that several times in the series, but I found Achmed Akkabi disappointing and Sven de Wijn ditto, the rest are more likely to join the negative, so this one, than to the 2 previous ones, but maybe they do it nice for the kids anyway, so I can't call them 'bad' either). The fight scene on the last one was almost laughable too.

All in all, it's still pretty nice, but every now and then the film misses the mark. I also think the younger audience should really like the mystery theme otherwise it will get boring pretty quickly. The good thing is that the theme hasn't been fully exploited yet, I think. Reasonable Studio 100 production that could have turned out even worse than the end result.

2.5*

I used to be a drunk fan of the House of Anubis between 2007 and 2009. before I discovered really good movies and started watching more cartoons I really looked at this kind of Dutch/Belgian pulp. Looking back on it almost makes me cry how bad it was. but I used to like it so much. The story of the series is also good. only it is all so badly acted only Victor is well played.
