Muhomatsu no Issho plot
Matsugoro is a poor rickshaw driver, whose spirited spirit and optimistic attitude to life make him a favorite in town. Matsu helps an injured boy, Toshio, and is then hired by the boy's parents to transport him to and from doctor's appointments. Matsu develops an affection for the parents and the child and when Toshio's father dies, Matsu becomes a surrogate father for him. He then secretly falls in love with Toshio's mother Yoshioko. But Matsu knows that there is a great gulf between their class ancestry, and there is little hope that Matsu can be more than just the boy's rickshaw driver and his mother.
