Beautiful love story set in Japan during the war. In the beginning of the film it is already quite clear which way the story is going (that the soldier falls in love with a Japanese woman and the problems that will come with it), and there are therefore few surprises. Nevertheless, entertaining, well-written dialogues, beautiful locations and excellent acting.

Beautiful anti-war film with excellent performances by Brando, Taka and Buttons in particular and yet another illustration of how the American army manages to ruin the happiness of ordinary people who don't hurt a cat. This movie was unknown to me but an absolute must. 4.5 stars.
