"Some Dreams Are Worth The Fight"

Young Sean Arthur tries to survive in New York City by selling fake goods. Sean's distant father guaranteed a difficult childhood and he is therefore indifferent to his current world. This indifference changes, however, when Sean meets veteran street fighter and trainer Harvey Boarden. Sean sees perspective again, develops his fighting spirit with the help of Boarden and will even fight to win, not only for the prize money, but also because of the unexpected new relationships that give him strength.

The clubs, the money, the women, the profiteers, the coach...it's all there as usual.

Channing Tatum and Howard are good, nothing to complain about. Because of their convincing playing I can swallow this clichéd course just fine. It all remains fairly simple, the meeting between Sean and Harvey is quite coincidental and the fights are not very special but that is not a bad thing. It never became disturbing, just a game of fighting with the accompanying scenes.

Pink Rabbit, Zulay's strict grandmother, Sean who had fallen asleep on a park bench, the secret space behind the shop... these are things that make the film 'my own' and I can do that always appreciate.
Also the shot from the air during the fight on the roof is nice.

American flag.

Nothing innovative, but surprisingly good looking.

fluff film.

The story has been done a hundred times before, but that's not the problem. A movie like Warrior actually has the same content. Then it is important to work it out properly, and Fighting fails in that area.

Despite the necessary dose of drama and trauma, there is 0.0 feeling in this film. Nowhere does that aspect get interesting. Just hope for enough fighting. That also disappoints.

As if that weren't enough, the ending turns out to be even more terrifying than expected.

Channing Tatum has been given a lot of roles with potential, but never convinced. He is also incredibly bad acting here. He even manages to lower the level of better actors - read: Terrence Howard.

The camera work is average. The fights are (unfortunately) not really raw and therefore not very exciting. Fighting lacks the energy and testosterone levels of other fighting films like Warrior.

Waste of time.

“In the words of the late, great, Marvin Gaye. Let's... Get... It... On!”

Reasonable film that pretends to be a serious drama, but is actually no more than a Van Damme clone. And there is nothing wrong with that in itself. The problem is that the drama has the upper hand, and it is precisely there that the film does not convince. Tatum and Howard are doing well, but mumble a lot and walk around dazed and lethargic. Henao has a nice supporting role and that mother of hers is also fantastic. For the rest, Fighting is an unimpressive film that lacks both the intensity of Fight Club and the unpretentious angle of a Van Damme film.
