Matt Wade, who has escaped from prison, tries to convince his brother Billy, a former gunfighter, to participate in a robbery. Billy refuses, but Matt blackmails him and Billy rides with his brother anyway and they join Ike Garvey's gang. It eventually comes to a fight between the two brothers in which Matt is killed. Matt's son Ted witnesses this. Unknowing that his father has escaped from prison, Ted assumes he has been released and recounts the event in Tombstone. When Billy arrives in Tombstone, a lynching awaits him, but he manages to escape and returns to Matt's gang. To exonerate himself, Matt tries to hand over the gang leader Garvey to Marshall Sam Jennings.
