Torment plot

Two brothers, Cliff and Jim Brandon, are successful crime mystery writers and, like the characters in their stories, are deeply involved in the events. During preliminary investigations for the final story, one of the brothers commits a murder for a simple reason: to experience what committing a murder means. His plan is to blame his secretary Joan for the murder, which is a good thing, because both brothers are in love with Joan, but she prefers the other brother.
