setback. Undoubtedly a masterpiece for that time, and even now it's still worth watching with a decent pace, sometimes beautiful pictures and the grammar of the film works excellently. How the cross-cutting and inter-cutting are inserted is no better now. That acceleration when folding packages (cigarettes) is also a nice piece of cinema.

But on the other hand, I don't think the editing shows a nice rhythm, some shots are plainly poorly framed and as a viewer you are just much more used to it, which pretty much nullifies the experience. I just think of those videos at How it's Made where they sometimes have episodes with only images of the assembly line, that is in everything more beautiful than this one. Furthermore, the film couldn't keep my attention constantly, although the second part is still better than the somewhat statically boring first part. The best part, by the way, is the montage sequence with a funeral, wedding and birth all in one

There is a lot to see in terms of content, although as a whole it is still disappointing. I think partly because of the somewhat chaotic structure, but also because of the busy directing. The focus is mainly on the technical performance; I missed a real recording camera with calm images of people and the city. 3.0* for the whole.

De Man Met De Filmcamera has been provided with a soundtrack a number of times, including by Biosphere, Cinematic Orchestra and Michael Nyman. What is this 1929 film about? Just about everything and then nothing. Pretty brilliant.

Strange intention of the director to just run the camera on a weekday in a Russian city. Images of life in the city are interspersed with images of the production of the documentary. Difficult to judge because I didn't like the content of it at all, although I do understand the underlying idea of Vertov. Technically or strongly again, given the time period between the silent film and the film with sound.

Fortunately also limited in time, because after a while I had had it. Nice support by the soundtrack, which breathed some life into the images shown. The editing is clever and was an example for later.
