The Glass Wall plot
"THE 10-HOUR MANHUNT...that tore New York apart!"
After World War II, Peter Kaban, a refugee from Hungary, desperately wants to go to the United States. He travels by ship to the US, but he cannot get asylum due to the lack of the correct documents and he has to stay on board by the Immigration Service. Peter tries to illegally enter the country: he overpowers a crew member in an unguarded moment and he is injured in his attempt to escape. Arriving in New York, Peter goes in search of the former pilot and now jazz musician Tom, whose life he saved in the Second World War and who can help him with the right documents. Along the way, Peter meets the unemployed and gullible blonde Maggie Summers, who tends to his wound. Tom reads about Peter in the newspaper and informs the police. Together with the now arrested Maggie, Tom tries to find the fugitive Peter, which is not easy in a big city like New York.
