The Crooked Web plot
"World's Most Beautiful Bait!"
Café owner Stan Fabian joins Joanie Daniel and her "brother" Frank in a plan to recover a fortune in gold stolen in Germany during World War II. Stan does not know that Joanie and Frank are secret agents, who want a confession from him about a murder that Stan is said to have committed in Germany. Joanie takes advantage of the fact that Stan is in love with her. At Joanie's urgent request, Stan even rejoins the army to make it easier to get to the stolen gold, which is said to be buried on a military site.
