Les Canailles plot
Ed Dawson heads the Italian agency Universal Press in Rome. He receives a visit from Helene Chalmers, the daughter of the agency's major American employer. A few days later, Helene is lost sight of by Dawson and he is ordered from New York, by the great director Chalmers himself, to find her immediately. Dawson finds Helene again, but at the same time notices that she is not as pure as her father thinks. Helene's puzzling behavior makes her believe that she has traveled to Rome because she wants to hide something from her father. When she invites Dawson to a remote house near a cliff, she seduces him. The next morning, when Dawson wakes up, he finds her lifeless body at the foot of the rocks. She has clearly fallen. Dawson fears that the police will suspect him of murder because he spent the night with her.
