Y A-T-Il un Français dans la Salle? plot
Horace Tumelat is the leader of a powerful French political party of the 1970s. He is around fifty and at the height of his career when he learns that his uncle Eusebius, who raised him in his youth, has committed suicide. But the latter hid a secret: he held captive with him a man who wanted to reveal Tumelat's dark past. Tumulat goes to visit the man, who is still trapped in his uncle's house. He learns from him that Eusebius left him a letter shortly before his death, but that the letter has disappeared. Meanwhile, the police are investigating the circumstances in which Eusebius died.
