L'Homme Qui Revient de Loin plot

André de la Bossiere is a widower and loves Martha. One day he mysteriously disappears. A while later, Martha assures her acquaintances that she has seen his ghost and that the latter explained to her that André was murdered. She suspects the deceased's nephew, a factory director, of having committed the murder. But it's hard for anyone to believe Martha's claims. What actually happened to André?
