When the uneducated Brigitte arrives at the Goudemondt publishing house with a miserable manuscript, the brothers Marc and Boudewijn, directors of a distressed family publishing house, immediately see opportunities. In view of the media, they have her switch roles with the stuttering author of a literary masterpiece. The trick works; the book becomes a huge success both artistically and commercially, but the initial agreement between all parties turns into a bitter battle for recognition.

I've never longed for the end as intensely as with this film. Happy Chantal Janzsen, brrr... A story of nothing, predictable, not funny, too many celebrities.. Next!

Quite a fun movie. Story is funny. Everyone plays excellently. Nice to see that Alex Klaasen doesn't play an 'over the top cousin', but just plays a normal gay.
Chantal Janzen also does her best. I didn't need the accent. Gijs Naber also plays strong this time. The nicest role has to be Anne-Will Blankers. Wonderful woman to watch and listen to.

Chantal did not disappoint and ultimately carries the entire film for me. With her somewhat forced fake accent (why do filmmakers do that anyway???) I got associations with the role of Tatjana Šimić in the first Flodder film. Furthermore, the cast acts like a typical Dutch 13 in a dozen movie as if they are playing in a play (perfectly rehearsed dialogues that feel like perfectly rehearsed dialogues). The film would have gotten away with 3 stars for me, were it not for the fact that the story is just really too thin to fill 1.5 hours. Certainly the first half lasts too long and too little happens. Or rather: nothing at all. I understand that you don't want to make the film last under 90 minutes (who is going to buy a cinema ticket for it then), but then there were still better solutions by introducing or further developing some extra storylines. The second half is clearly better. Too bad about the completely unnecessary voice over and the cringe-inducing bad ending. You shouldn't take the genre 'comedy' too seriously. It is a light-hearted entertaining film that will make you smile. Don't expect a movie that will make you laugh at the neighbors. The title of the book 'The Desire' is brilliantly chosen and refers perfectly to both main characters. And the twist around the librarian is also brilliant. But unfortunately all this cannot save the film to a satisfactory level. Great pastime if you fancy a light-hearted Dutch film, if you want to plop down exhausted on the couch after a long working week, if you have to kill time at the airport or if you just feel like watching Chantal for 1.5 hours. Two stars.
