Huh?

What a weird second part. Where in part 1 the Boogeyman is really still a kind of ghost, this film takes a twist that is really too lame.

Didn't think the first part was that bad at all, didn't look bad and still quite scary. This movie starts off right away with a lot less visual flair, pretty typical for a second part usually. But by having it played in a psychiatric institution with long corridors, I found it quite exciting in the beginning. Unfortunately it turns out to be just a person. And a regular slasher is still some peace. With a climax that is embarrassingly predictable even for a slasher.

It's funny how weird some horror series go on. Along with Halloween III , this is perhaps the strangest.

1.5*

Anyway, watch this DVD. For starters, the cover reads: 'From ghost house pictures comes an even more intense and terrifying sequel to the original boogeyman'

So this is not a lie. The first part of the boogeyman series was not too exciting and could almost be called cringe-inducing.

Either way, this movie brings a lot more gore and more suspense. The kills/kills seem a bit stolen from the Saw series. Everyone who dies has to deal with his or her own fears.

Because of the much gore but also because of the weird sides of the story, the story of why etc. makes me doubt my assessment. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt anyway.

3*, but a tight 3*

Mediocre. Something that has nothing to do with the rather misleading title. This movie has very little to do with the first part. The Boogeyman is a supernatural creature, but performs his first kills simply with a knife. Boogeyman 2 is a slasher. Nothing more and nothing less. Certain kills are well executed and the whole is clearly more exciting than what preceded this. Unfortunately, this sequel doesn't bring much. It looks too much like a Saw clone and is mostly standard. A horror film neatly by the book and therefore a total lack of spontaneity. I was considering three more stars, but the weak ending is giving me that. The bottom line is that part two is better, but still not good enough.
