Coming Soon plot
The documentary Coming Soon gives an impression of the film industry in Nigeria, aka 'Nollywood', which is the third largest in the world in terms of the amount of films produced (after Hollywood and Bollywood). The country has a remarkable phenomenon: home video, feature films produced on video, with budgets of up to $15,000, directly in front of the living room. Director Alexander van der Meer followed two very successful directors, Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen and Zeb Ejiro, in their work. He took a look at 'Africa's leading Film School' in Lagos, with a library without books, and visited the Action Academy, where people train with full dedication in Movie Magic. The documentary also contains images of the important theatrical tradition in Nigeria, from which the home video more or less originated.
